Mother/daughter design team Sandy and Alexandra Rawlings test marketed their original design— the Striped Classic Handbag—at Lilly Pulitzer of Nantucket in the summer of 2000. The bag which came in four colors reminiscent of Nantucket—
"Sconset Pink," "Hydrangea Blue," "Daffodil Yellow," and "Seafoam Green"—was enthusiastically received. Color coordinating baseball hats followed and have gained enduring popularity across North America.
